My Info:

I was born and raised in Texas, and was told to expect somewhat different weather than I'm used to here in Central New York...but this is ridiculous!

Name:
Chris Mosser...yes, my real name.  It rhymes with "closure", which is what we'll all have when they fire me!

Birthplace:  Lubbock, Texas, but I've spent better years in Austin.  Did you know that even the street bums in Austin wear burnt orange?  It's weird.  I'm enjoying a different shade of orange lately.

Political affiliation:  Radical Moderate Anarchist Libertarian Whig.  In all seriousness, a little radical moderation is what this country most desperately needs...people who fervently strive toward the middle.  Neither the righties nor the lefties will be able to pull us out of the mess we currently occupy.

Astrological sign:  Aquarius, or something.

Favorite TV:  The Sopranos, pre-DSN Star Trek, football, or any other program that has absolutely nothing to do with reality.  I've been watching the new version of Battlestar Galactica lately.  I'm a hopeless Netflix queue-queuer...in fact I think I spend more time queuing my queue than I do watching the videos I am queuing.
Favorite Movies:  As with TV above, I tend toward science fiction and mafia movies, though not much of any appreciable quality has come out in those genres in awhile.  The Departed my change that trend, but I haven't seen it yet.

Favorite Quote:  Albert Einstein: "Great minds have always encountered violent opposition from weak minds".  And Thomas Jefferson: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants".

Pictures from Iran

In today's political climate, it can be easy to simplify one's image of foreign nations, especially those that certain elements within the American conversation would seek to demonize for their own purposes.  I'm no fan of Iran's politics, but the fact is, when our leaders talk about attacking Iran, they are talking about attacking a culturally rich, ancient but modern country that is in many ways similar to our own and not without its own beauty.  If you don't have a clear picture in your mind when you think of Iran, click HERE for an awesome slideshow of images from there.

We've got more war on our hands than we can handle at the moment...the last thing in the world we need is more.

Simpsons Hits the Big Screen

 Watch The Simpsons Movie Review

by Derek Sante

From pen to paper, paper to TV, TV to the big screen; The Simpsons movie is finally here! Join your favorite characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie as they take on a new silver screen adventure.

The story takes off with the town of Springfield on the brink of eco-disaster. They try to change their ways, but a certain Simpson tips the scales in destructions favor. Can Springfield be saved???

If this was a movie trailer, this is where you would hear the dark foreboding drum beats. The real question is whether this feels like a theatrical movie or just a long Simpsons episode. You see some funny moments that you wouldn’t find on the TV show, but what makes this an event worthy of a full length feature?

Now having said that, I really liked this movie. It had comedy, heart and the good sense to stay in 2-D. The animation is wonderful and vibrant on the screen. And the use of computers to make the animation allowed the Simpsons creators to expand the animated world to new heights.

The storyline itself keeps you interested while it mocks the government, celebrities and even the town of Springfield itself. Not to mention we get some special guest voice appearances from some well known celebrities. I won’t say who, but they look and sound great in yellow!

W ith the title of the movie and franchise being The Simpsons, you understand that this feature is mostly about the family and their adventures. Though, I would have liked more time on screen with some of the other Simpsons characters like Apu or Chief Wiggum. (A couple of my favorites)

So after 18 years I believe I’m seeing everything in yellow everywhere I look. So I can honestly say that through the good and the bad, the Simpsons have always been there with me. And while not perfect, I’ll add this movie as a highlight to this week in my life.
