Simpsons Hits the Big Screen

 Watch The Simpsons Movie Review

by Derek Sante

From pen to paper, paper to TV, TV to the big screen; The Simpsons movie is finally here! Join your favorite characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie as they take on a new silver screen adventure.

The story takes off with the town of Springfield on the brink of eco-disaster. They try to change their ways, but a certain Simpson tips the scales in destructions favor. Can Springfield be saved???

If this was a movie trailer, this is where you would hear the dark foreboding drum beats. The real question is whether this feels like a theatrical movie or just a long Simpsons episode. You see some funny moments that you wouldn’t find on the TV show, but what makes this an event worthy of a full length feature?

Now having said that, I really liked this movie. It had comedy, heart and the good sense to stay in 2-D. The animation is wonderful and vibrant on the screen. And the use of computers to make the animation allowed the Simpsons creators to expand the animated world to new heights.

The storyline itself keeps you interested while it mocks the government, celebrities and even the town of Springfield itself. Not to mention we get some special guest voice appearances from some well known celebrities. I won’t say who, but they look and sound great in yellow!

W ith the title of the movie and franchise being The Simpsons, you understand that this feature is mostly about the family and their adventures. Though, I would have liked more time on screen with some of the other Simpsons characters like Apu or Chief Wiggum. (A couple of my favorites)

So after 18 years I believe I’m seeing everything in yellow everywhere I look. So I can honestly say that through the good and the bad, the Simpsons have always been there with me. And while not perfect, I’ll add this movie as a highlight to this week in my life.
